Local S-6 Members Participate in Charity Golf Tournaments

MSP Airport Fire Local S-6 members, both retired and active, recently participated in a couple of local charity golf tournaments.  On July 15th, Brooklyn Park Fire Local 5031 hosted their 4th Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting various local charities.  The event took place at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minnesota.  Local S-6 fielded two teams that competed in the four man scramble event.  Chad Wade, Doug Senn, Ross Wehrle, and Corey McKusick comprised one team and Brian Knoke and friend, Shawn Lettellier, and Wesley Musgrove made up the other team that finished in first place and won the event!

On July 22nd, St. Paul Fire Local 21 hosted their 3rd Annual Fill the Boot Golf Classic benefiting the MDA at the Highland Golf Course in St. Paul.  Local S-6 members again had a strong showing and competed with two teams in the event.  Chad Wade, Bob Casey, Doug Senn, and Ross Wehrle comprised one team and Brian Knoke and friend, Shawn Lettellier, and Wesley Musgrove also competed and again finished in first place and won the event!

MDA Muscle Camp 2019

MSP Airport Fire Local S-6 members, both retired and active, once again participated in this year's MDA Muscle Camp in Maple Lake, Minnesota.  Local S-6 members joined firefighters from other departments such as Minneapolis, St. Paul, Edina, Roseville, St. Louis Park, St. Cloud, and St. Anthony to spend the day with MDA campers.  Campers and counselors participated in fishing, swimming, floor hockey, water volleyball, and and other activities as well as lunch, which was provided by the MPFF.

Thank you to all Local S-6 members that participated in this wonderful event.  This event is a great opportunity for our membership to see where our Fill the Boot dollars are allocated.  Its truly an amazing camp with amazing kids and a great opportunity to meet and network with other firefighters.

FireSync Scheduling App for IOS and Android Phones

Here is a FREE scheduling app for your smartphone that was designed for the firefighter shift schedule.  I stumbled across this and was surprised to find that our department schedule was already loaded.  Once you download the app and begin to go through the setup, you will find us listed in the participating departments as "MAC Airport FD".  This app is nice in that it syncs with other calanders quite well and also has some additional features that some may find useful.

Features:

1. Ability to add and track ordinary events, trades, overtime, comp time, benefit days, incidents and training. Since FireSync is also a full-featured calendar you can also see these events on other calendars and other devices sharing the same calendar account (e.g. spouse). FireSync is your all-in-one calendar app.

2. Sleek reports that give you the info you need at a mere glance. View your shift trades, overtimes, comp time, benefits accrued or used, training and fire incidents with ease. You can also email your reports.

3. The ability to view your calendar in a year view, month view, month-list view, or day view. With FireSync you aren't just looking at your shift cycle. You can see all of your fire and non-fire events.

4. CertTracker to keep track of your training certificates.

5. Expenditure tracking.

FireSync Shift Calendar is the shift calendar firefighters deserve. Get the word out to your brothers and sisters in your firehouse and IAFF local.

Military TShirt Day - Tuesday 19th February 2019

On this date in history...

"The Battle of Iwo Jima (19 February 1945 – 26 March 1945) was a major battle in which the U.S. Marines landed on and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. The American invasion, designated Operation Detachment, had the goal of capturing the entire island, including the three Japanese-controlled airfields (including the South Field and the Central Field), to provide a staging area for attacks on the Japanese main islands. This five-week battle comprised some of the fiercest and bloodiest fighting of the War in the Pacific of World War II."

Battle of Iwo Jima

As a show of respect, please wear your Airport Fire Department military tshirt tomorrow, Tuesday 19th February 2019. C-Shift is on duty. The next day we are able to wear our uniform military tshirt is Friday 29th March 2019 - marking the anniversary of the last troops to leave Vietnam. C-Shift will be on duty. Thank you!
