The 2020 Fire Service Day at the Capitol is fast approaching. All are encouraged to attend regardless of whether or not you make an appointment to see your representative - you can always join in with another group. Numbers are important on this day. Event details and sign-up are below. Please note today is the deadline for registration if you do want to meet with your representative. A-Shift is working this day and C-Shift will be going off duty. And as always, if you are not interested in attending but would still like to participate, please consider a trade for those A-Shift members who would like to be in attendance. Thank you!

Legislative Conference

Please join the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters (MPFF), Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association (MSFCA), and the Minnesota State Fire Department Association (MSFDA) for our annual legislative conference on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. This is your opportunity to speak directly with your state legislators about the issues you face in the fire service in Minnesota. We'll begin the day at the Minnesota Capitol (75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard., St Paul, MN 55155) in the Vault Room which is located in the basement of the Capitol building. All firefighters in Minnesota are encouraged to attend.
You are encouraged to wear a red Fire Service Day at the Capitol polo shirt if you have one. If not, please wear your department apparel/uniform.
Agenda for Fire Service Day at the Capitol:
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• Check-in
• Location: Vault Room, Capitol Building basement
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Legislative overview & boxed lunch
• Location: Vault Room, Capitol Building basement
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
• Appointments with legislators
• Location: State Office Building and Minnesota Senate Building
Once you register, the team at Lockridge Grindal Nauen will work to schedule appointments with your state representative and your state senator based on your home address and/or the city where your department is located.
As it relates to parking, there are a few options.
Capitol Complex Map
• Lot AA is a surface lot and is a good option about a block from the Capitol building.
• Lot C is just northwest of the Capitol. building.
• There is street parking along John Ireland Blvd. You will need to download the “PassportParking” app to pay.
• Finally, you can park at the Best Western Capitol Ridge for a fee (161 St Anthony Ave, St Paul, MN 55103).
Please give yourself ample time to find parking. If you park along John Ireland Boulevard, you can take advantage of the Capitol complex tunnel system; walk into the nearby Minnesota Department of Transportation building and follow the tunnel on the ground floor to the Capitol, which will lead you to the Vault Room.
