Members, Retirees, Friends...
Please join Local S-6 in congratulating John Hengen on his upcoming retirement.
John began his career with the Metropolitan Airports Commission in 1989 with the Police Department serving as a Community Service Officer for one year until he transferred to MAC Field Maintenance in 1990.
However, a bigger calling arose and he made the leap and joined MSP Airport Fire on Monday 22nd May 2000. In his tenure with the fire department he ascended to rank of Driver in April 2007, served as Fire Inspector and worked with our new hires as a Probationary Firefighter Trainer for many years.
John spearheaded our MDA initiative for the past 11 years organizing Fill the Boot drives, MDA Camp appearances, fundraiser dinners and other related events. Most notably, the highlight of his MDA work being the personal relationships he fostered between Local S-6 membership and our MDA Ambassadors Abby and Hayley.
This Thursday 16th December 2021 will mark his official date of retirement with just under 21 years, 7 months of service (Fire) and over 32 years total (MAC).
Thank you for all of your dedication and contributions to MSP Airport Fire and Local S-6. You will be missed. God Speed and enjoy your retirement, Sir!
*Any future party plans are currently pending.
